PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the situation that a printer with a label peeling mechanism freely carries out a mechanical initialization process although setting of papers is not finished. SOLUTION: In the label printer with the label peeling mechanism, the papers are set in a state while a main cover is opened, and at the same time selection of the presence or absence of use of the peeler function is executed in a state while a peeler cover attached to the main cover is opened. The label printer with the label peeling mechanism is equipped with a manual input switch which enables manual input in a state (S1) while the papers are set and the main cover is closed, and a control means which carries out (S5) the mechanical initialization process when depression (S3) of the manual input switch is detected.
