PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probe type medical appliance suitable for being inserted into the body in the magnetic field of MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and used as an electrode. SOLUTION: This probe type medical appliance 1 including a needle body 10 and a guide 20 is formed of a material which does not disturb MR signals, made to have a thickness to be recognized in MR images and provided with the electrodes A and B including an exposed metal surface on a distal end part. As the material which does not disturb the MR signals, phosphor bronze coated with gold is adopted to a part to come into contact with body fluid and the exposed metal surface in the electrodes is made of gold. Also, for the guide 20 to be inserted into the body prior to the needle body 10 including the electrodes A and B, the thickness of the distal end part is made to 1.7mm so as to be recognized in the MR images.
