The invention relates to an internal combustion engine comprising a crankcase (11), with an oil sump (10), fixed to the crankcase (11), an oil suction pipe (15), extending into the oil sump (10) and an oil pump (12) which sucks oil from the oil sump (10) through the oil suction pipe (15) and delivers the same to users. According to the invention, the oil pump (12) is fixed to the crankcase (11) such that oil sucked from the oil sump (10) is supplied towards the oil pump (12) through a channel integrated in the crankcase (11), said oil suction pipe (15) being embodied such as to extend from a first end (16), projecting into the oil sump (10), through the channel, integrated in the crankcase (11) and terminate at a second end (17), in the vicinity of the oil pump (12).
