<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel capable of suppressing NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) of a vehicle and enhancing the steering stability by preventing fretting wear of a wheel mounted flange. <P>SOLUTION: The bearing device for the wheel comprises an outward member 10 with a double-row outer rolling surface 10a formed on an inner circumference thereof, an inward member 1 integrated with a wheel mounted flange 4 on one end thereof and consisting of one inner rolling surface 2a, a hub wheel 2 having a small diameter stepped part 2b extending therefrom in the axial direction, and an inner wheel 3 press-fitted in the small diameter stepped part 2b with the other inner rolling surface 3a formed thereon, and a rolling element 6 which is stored between both rolling surfaces of the inward member 1 and the outward member 10 in a rolling manner. A predetermined hardened layer 12 is formed on a flange side face 4a of the wheel mounted flange 4 and between the flange side face 4a and a brake pilot part 11.
