<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rechargeable lithium cell suitable for operating at high temperatures. <P>SOLUTION: The use of a rechargeable lithium storage cell at a temperature within a range of 80 to 180°C is provided. The cell comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode made of a carbon-containing material capable of inserting Li<SB>4</SB>Ti<SB>5</SB>O<SB>12</SB>or lithium, a separator, a non-aqueous solvent, and a lithium salt. The use is characterized in that: an active material for the positive electrode is a lithium metal oxide having the following formula: LiNi<SB>1-x-y</SB>Co<SB>x</SB>Al/Mn<SB>y</SB>O<SB>2</SB>where Al/Mn means Al and/or Mn, 0≤x≤0.5, 0≤y≤0.5, and the sum x+y is less than 0.06; and that the lithium salt is selected from the group consisting of LiPF<SB>6</SB>, LiBF<SB>4</SB>, LiBOB, LiBETI, and mixtures thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
