PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved call setup procedure for a multimode transmission device. SOLUTION: In a radio communications system, provider equipment and at least two subscriber wireless devices which are operational in a telephonic communication mode and a dispatch communication mode respectively are contained. The provider equipment comprises a required communication mode and an identifying mode which specifies a target subscriber radio device. It is operational to receive a transmission request from the subscriber radio device. The provider equipment compares a mode specifying identifer with a request communication mode. When there is no agreement, it searches for database which stores at least two mode specifying identifers to each subscriber equipment, reads the mode specifying identifer corresponding to the request communication mode, using the received mode specifying identifer, and establishes a transmission between a subscriber radio device of a sending source and a target subscriber radio device into the request communication mode, using the mode specifying identifer corresponding to the requested communication mode.
