PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a client cannot recognize the status of a video camera in a mode in which an image is not reproduced (stop, fast forward, rewind, eject, during loading, and reproduction of reproduction prohibited medium etc.) when the client remotely controls the operation of the video camera. SOLUTION: A reproduced motion image stream reproduced from a tape by a DVC deck 22 of the video camera is transmitted in an order of the DVC deck 22 to DV codec 20 to camera/JPEG encoder 17 to DSC 30 by remote control of an external computer 42. An image (still image or motion image) exhibiting the operation is stored in a ROM 39, and display is performed instead of a blue back image in a mode in which a reproduced image is not displayed. Thus, in the mode in which the reproduced image is not displayed, an image according to the mode is displayed on the screen of the external computer 42 being a client. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
