PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IR absorbent having IR absorbency of high efficiency, an electrophotographic toner obtained by using the IR absorbent, an optical fixing color toner having improved fixing efficiency, in particular, and an invisible toner having enhanced IR sensing capability and to provide an image forming apparatus using such toners. SOLUTION: The degree of crystallization of the IR absorbent is specified to 20 to 80%. And the IR absorbent is used for the electrophotographic toner (for example, the optical fixing color toner and the invisible toner).
