PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an image by which an area gradation image, for example, to be used for producing a printed material can be commonly used for forming an image on an image medium having layers of a transparent medium and a reflective layer, such as for making a proof. SOLUTION: The image forming method includes: a first step of outputting one image from one output means by using an ensemble of one-bit data of every dots constituting an area gradation image; and a second step of outputting another image from another output means by using the ensemble on an image medium having layers of a transparent medium and a reflective layer and at a position at≥0.5μm distance from the reflective layer. The second step includes a dot percent adjusting step to adjust the dot percent of dots included in the area gradation image so as to approximate another image to the one image.
