PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more safely and surely set a rail hoisting machine horizontal in hoisting the rail even in a job site of maintenance works for railway having irregular steps. SOLUTION: A pin insert hole 7 is bored in an outer cylinder 2 of an expanding and contracting leg, an inner cylinder 4 of the expanding and contracting leg is provided with a plurality of expanding length adjusting holes 6 is slid in the outer cylinder 2 of the expanding and contracting leg to adjust the height to a proper value, and a pin 8 is inserted into the hole to set the leg.
