PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a baffle device with an improved work execution property and a reduced size which hardly disturbs work in a manhole. SOLUTION: The section of a baffle body 21 of the baffle device 1 is formed in a flattened circular shape having a sectional area equal to the sectional area of an inflow pipe 9 of the manhole 2. The section of a vertical pipe connection port of the baffle device 11 and the section of a flattened cylindrical pipe are formed in flattened circular shapes equal to that of the section of the baffle body 21. Sectional areas of the baffle device 1 and the flattened cylindrical pipe are set substantially equal to the sectional area of the inflow pipe 9. The baffle device 1 and the flattened cylindrical pipe are not protruded so much from the inside surface of the manhole 2 while keeping draining capability by the baffle device 1 and the flattened cylindrical pipe. The baffle device 1 and the flattened cylindrical pipe can be made further compact, thus improving the work execution property. The maintenance and management of the manhole 2 can be facilitated.
