PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an acrylic-base powdery coating material which allows homogeneous dispersion of a curable acrylic resin and a curing agent by a simple means, and low-priced formation of a coating film that is excellent in smoothness and gloss. SOLUTION: The method for producing a powdery coating material uses (1) a specific curable acrylic resin (A) obtained by polymerization of an unsaturated compound containing a glycidyl group and/or a methyl glycidyl group with a raw material monomer containing methyl methacrylate at a determined content, (2) 1, 3, 6-hexane tricarboxylic acid (B), and (3) one or more solvents (C) having boiling points of a specific temperature or lower and selected from a specific range; and comprises a process for mixing (A), (B) and (C) at a specific temperature or lower at least to dissolve (B) in (C), followed by a process for evaporating/removing (C) at a specific temperature or lower.
