PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand the hope of a game player under a special game mode, and to increase the amusement of the game in a game machine which can realize the game under the special game mode and a specific game mode in addition to a normal game mode. SOLUTION: This game machine is equipped with a variable display means having a plurality of variable display sections which perform a variable display of a plurality of patterns. The quantity of specific stopped patterns which are stop-displayed in respective variable display sections after being shifted to the special game mode from among stopped patterns which are determined to be patterns to be stop-displayed in the variable display sections by a pattern determining means is measured. When it is judged that the quantity has reached a judgement quantity, a specific shifting means makes the game mode be shifted from the special game mode to the specific game mode.
