A radar apparatus employing a CW radar system, such as FMCW radar, wherein occurrence of interference waves can be avoided. Multiple radar apparatuses can be accommodated within a limited frequency modulation band at the same time. A radar apparatus (1) irradiates, into the air, transmission waves base on a reference continuous wave related to a frequency modulation, receives transmission waves as reflected by an external target to acquire a received signal, obtains a beat signal from the acquired received signal and from the reference continuous wave, and calculates, from the obtained beat signal, the distance and velocity of the external target. The radar apparatus (1) comprises pulse generating means (13) for pulsing the reference continuous wave at intervals unique to the radar apparatus to generate a pulse transmission signal; and an antenna (16) for radiating, into the air, the pulse transmission signal as the transmission waves. |
