In apparatus for cleaning a sheet (A) of material using jets of cleaning medium from nozzles arranged on a first side of (A), also including gas nozzles for applying a jet of gas, at least the gas nozzles are arranged over the first side of (A) such that the gas jet passes through (A) and a region on the second (opposite) side of (A) is provided from which the gas jet can exit after passing through (A).
