<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a focusing operation and to prevent a shuttering chance from being lost and to improve operability. <P>SOLUTION: In a photographing apparatus 100, a camera part 101 photographs a photographing object displayed on a display part 108, An automatic focus area selecting part 104 is equipped with a group of pushing switches which are provided by the same number as that of automatic focus areas, each of which corresponds one to one to each area of a plurality of automatic focus areas, and which selects an automatic focus area in which the same number as that of the pushed switch is displayed. An automatic focusing part 105 obtains a focus on the photographing object displayed on the selected automatic focus area.
