<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector equipped with an optically compensating sheet for projecting always stable uniform images, and to provide a liquid crystal panel unit used for the projector. <P>SOLUTION: The projector comprises a liquid crystal panel 7 sealing liquid crystal molecules irradiated with the light from a light source 35, a polarizing plate 73 arranged at a position opposed to the liquid crystal panel 7, and an optically compensating sheet 8 arranged between the polarizing plate 73 and the liquid crystal panel 7 and compensating for the birefringence of the liquid crystal molecules.
