PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stamp controller arranged to perform stamping while altering the stamp position automatically when the stamp overlaps an objected, e.g. a character or a figure, and to provide stamp control method and program. SOLUTION: When a stamp arranged at a basic point specified previously overlaps an objected, e.g. a character or a figure, a decision is made whether a space having an area not smaller than the stamp size exists in the vicinity of the basic point or not. If that space does not exist, a stamp position calculating section 204 calculates a space having a largest area among the spaces of an image being stamped and reduces the stamp size to that space size. When the stamp is a character string, font size of the stamp is reduced and the line is fed so that the character string can be stamped in that space. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
