PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine wherein an overlap amount of an intake valve and an exhaust valve is a predetermined value or more and exhaust emission in injecting fuel in the timing of the intake stroke is improved. SOLUTION: An ECU 13 discriminates whether or not a fuel injection timing is an intake stroke timing, and if the fuel injection timing is the intake stroke timing, it is determined whether or not the overlap amount of the intake valve and the exhaust valve is a predetermined value. If the overlap amount is a predetermined value or more, the ECU 13 increases the pressure of fuel injected from the fuel injection valve. As a result, the influence of blow-back from a cylinder to atomized fuel can be reduced, thereby the wall flow of fuel is reduced to improve exhaust emission. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
