<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which is equipped with a cover for opening and closing an objective lens prepared in an optical pickup and prevents the objective lens from being contaminated by dust etc. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disk device includes an optical pickup transport object 250 which is intermeshed with a gear of a driving motor shaft, a cover transport object 260 which is interlocked thereto, and a cover object which drives a cover 262 in an initial period of driving of a driving motor 242 by movement of the cover transport object 260.
