PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer line printer capable of realizing a stable and high printing quality by preventing wrinkles of an ink ribbon and space between the ink ribbon and a recording medium, which occur when a thermal head and a platen are press-contacted. SOLUTION: The thermal transfer line printer has a press-contact mechanism wherein the thermal head 3 is press-contacted to the platen 7 positioned on the front side of the thermal head 3 with the pressing force of an elastic member 2 arranged on the rear side of the thermal head 3. In the elastic member 2, the thermal head 3 has a structure that the pressing force at the center in the arrangement direction of heating elements 3h is larger than that at other parts of the thermal head.
