PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saddle stitching bookbinding method which uses no metal wire but utilizes an adhesive (glue) and makes a bookbinding operation reliable and efficient. SOLUTION: The saddle stitching bookbinding method comprises a process 2 wherein a part of a hole formed in a stacked fold-in part 8 of a double-folded or cross-folded document 6 is cut in continuity without cutting out the entire periphery of the hole and at the same time the cut portion is folded back downward as a tongue piece 10, a process 3 wherein the adhesive (glue) 12 is applied to the cut face 11 of the fold-in part 8, a process 4 wherein the tongue piece 10 folded back is restored to the original position and a process 5 wherein the cut face 11 and the tongue piece 10, and the tongue pieces 10, are held with pressure vertically (13) and stuck together with the adhesive (glue) 12 applied to the cut face 11.
