PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method employing a fiber filter medium which can reduce the wet-weather pollution load of final effluent of a combined sewage system and ease the maintenance. SOLUTION: In a combined sewage system, dry-weather inflow sewage is treated by introducing it into a reaction tank and a final settling basin after removing impurities and SS in a first settling basin. Inflow sewage in wet weather exceeding the amount of planned inflow sewage is treated by its upstream circulation through a filter tank filled with the filter media, and discharged without being introduced into the first settling basin. Pollutants remaining in the filter tank are discharged after rainfall, and returned to the former stage of the first settling basin to be treated.
