The storage e.g. redundant array of independent disks, RAID, are only activated, i.e. supplied with current, by the control unit (4) when required. The control unit measures the actual operation time of disk and compares this with the maximum operation time. The control unit also checks disks for errors. An independent claim is also included for a storage method.
