<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device which can suppress fluctuation in the illumination intensity of fluorescence by temperatures and can suppress fluctuation of coordinates (color temperature) of white chromaticity diagram. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device comprises a semiconductor laser element 100, a component member which is provided at the outside of the semiconductor laser element 100 and has wavelength selectivity to threshold gain, and a phosphor layer in which a phosphor which absorbs the light from the semiconductor laser element 100 and emits fluorescence is dispersed.
