PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auto tensioner using a pulley 5 rockingly supported on an arm 4 for giving tension to a rotor driving belt and having viscose fluid laid between a bracket 3 and the arm 4 to produce damper effects while stabilizing the damper effects even when the temperature or pressure of the viscose fluid rises in use. SOLUTION: The bracket 3 has a taper conical face and the arm 4 has a taper conical face, and a gap 11 is formed between the taper conical faces facing each other. The auto tensioner 1 has a fluid chamber 12 communicated with the gap 11, and the viscose fluid L is filled in the gap 11 and the fluid chamber 12. An elastically deformable air chamber forming member 13 is arranged in the fluid chamber 12, and an air chamber 23 is formed in the fluid chamber 12 by the air chamber forming member 13.
