<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the power converter of a high voltage and high safety which avoids breakdown of power semiconductors while preventing beforehand sending of an error signal to the power semiconductors from driving circuits by detecting failures of the driving circuits in such a state as no voltage is applied to the power semiconductors. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter is constituted by a power conversion circuit, a control unit 22 which supplies gate control signals and controls the power semiconductors X1, X2, and driving circuits 20, 21 in which the power conversion circuit outputs an alternating current from a DC power source by alternate switching control of the power semiconductors X1, X2 connected in series by at least one phase, and the driving circuits are connected to each of the power semiconductors X1, X2 and send gate driving signals to each power semiconductor X1, X2 amplifying the gate control signals from the control portion 22, wherein a failure diagnosis operational portion 10 is provided in the driving circuit 20 to diagnose failures of the driving circuits. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
