PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric converter exhibiting high heat exchange efficiency, durability and reliability. SOLUTION: The thermoelectric conversion unit 1 in which a plurality of P type thermoelectric elements 11p and a plurality of N type thermoelectric elements 11n are connected electrically and alternately by an upper electrode 7 and a lower electrode 8 provided with thin planar bases 15 and 17 and pin-like members 16 and 18 extending in the vertical direction therefrom. The upper and lower electrodes 7 and 8 have flexible structure and when the thermoelectric elements 11n and 11p are held between insulating substrates 22 and 23 and supported, poor contact due to thermal deformation of the thermoelectric elements 11n and 11p can be prevented resulting in a highly reliable thermoelectric conversion unit 1.
