PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain data for specifying the cause of arbitrary abnormality when abnormality is generated. SOLUTION: This numerical controller 1 is provided with a plurality of tasks 3, an internal storage means 6 for storing data and an input/output means 7 for displaying and reading/writing data in the internal storage means 6. The plurality of tasks 3 are respectively provided with an abnormality investigating means 5 for monitoring data A in the internal storage means 6, and for starting the storage of the log of the data in the internal storage means 6 address-designated by the input/output means 7 in a trace buffer in the internal storage means 6 only when the data A satisfy conditions designated by the input/output means 7, and for monitoring data B in the internal storage means 6, and for ending the storage of the log of the data in the internal storage means 6 in the trace buffer only when the data B satisfy the conditions designated by the input/output means 7.
