PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single shaft type agitation head for soil improvement which is applicable to a soil improving machine and the like, forms a straight excavated hole, minimizes excavation resistance, and exerts a large rotation stopping effect. SOLUTION: The agitation head is formed of an excavation shaft 2, excavation blades 3 arranged at the front end of the shaft, agitation blades 4 arranged to the excavation shaft 2 at a location above the excavation blades, upper and lower stopping blades 5 rotatably arranged to the excavation shaft 2 in a manner of sandwiching the agitation blades, abutting plates 6 connecting external ends of the stopping blades and abutting on a wall A forming the excavated hole, and thrusting plates 7 arranged outside the abutting plates for being thrust to the wall A forming the excavated hole.
