A bone fixing system (10) for fixing a rod (5) to a bone, comprising: a conformable elongate member (7) having a first free end portion (7a), a second free end portion (7b), and an intermediate portion (7c) therebetween, the intermediate portion being adapted to surround the bone; a main body (12), the main body comprising: a main part (12a) with openings (30) provided so that a portion of the rod may be loaded into the main body via the openings; and internal passages (43, 44) in which the first and second free end portions of the elongate member are inserted; a first screw (26) having an external thread, wherein when the first screw is driven, the end portions are locked in position; and a closure member (32) engaging with the main body, wherein the portion of the rod may be clamped between the main body and the closure member by threadably moving the closure member relative to the main body. |
