<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive luminaire having a decorative plate on which an incident light end face portion and a high brightness portion are provided to form an optical high brightness portion, so that the decorative plate is utilized in place of decorative moldings and has a highly decorative effect. <P>SOLUTION: The luminaire comprises a luminaire body 10, a light source 20 which is double circular type annular fluorescent lamp arranged on the bottom face side of the luminaire body 10, a translucent cover 30 covering the side of the fluorescent lamp 20 of the luminaire body 10, a transparent decorative plate 40 arranged on an outer fringe portion of the translucent cover 30. The incident light end face portion 41 is formed in the decorative plate 40. The incident light end face portion 41 almost vertically receives the light produced by the fluorescent lamp 20 and guides it into the inside of the decorative plate 40. A high brightness portion 49 is formed in the decorative plate 40. The high brightness portion 49 blocks a course of the light in the decorative plate 40 and emits the light out of the decorative plate 40. The high brightness portion 49 is made brighter in comparison with other regions when the fluorescent lamp 20 is turned on.
