<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for preventing an image forming apparatus from being operated with a waste toner container being unattached, without requiring an electrical sensor that detects only whether the waste toner container is attached or not. <P>SOLUTION: The copy and facsimile compound machine 1 has a front cover 6 disposed so as to be opened/closed for access to the inside of its main body 4 and having an arm 62 for regulating the opening/closing operation; a control section 9 for detecting the closed position of the front cover 6 and inhibiting the operation of the apparatus when the front cover 6 is not detected; the waste tone container 18 for storing waste toner from an image forming section 14; a restricting member 52 for blocking the closing of the cover 6 by coming into contact with the arm 62; and a waste toner container holding member 17 for releasing the blocking operation of the restricting member 52 upon the attachment of the waste toner container 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
