PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air tight sealing method suitable to an optical module using a comparatively inexpensive resin optical waveguide which can be mass produced, and remove the drawbacks of the resin optical waveguide, such as the water absorption/ moisture absorption problems. SOLUTION: An optical waveguide device 1 made of resin 17 and an optical fiber 3 are connected in an optical waveguide module fixed in a case. The inlet 5 on the case 4 for the optical fiber is sealed air-tightly by filling a thermoplastic sealant. The thermoplastic sealant desirably contains polyisobutylene as the main ingredient. The air-tight sealant has been less common in the optical waveguide module to be used in conventional communication devices, since it is comparatively expensive.
