PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently improve the problems of poor adhesion and interfacial peeling of an aqueous metallic coating. SOLUTION: The aqueous coating comprises as essential ingredients a synthetic resin emulsion (I), a metallic powder pigment (II) and a modifier (III), where the modifier (III) is mixed under the conditions (a)-(c) below. (a) The modifier (III) is a mixture of a silane coupling agent (p) with a solvent (q) having a solubility in water of at most 10 g/100 g. (b) The weight ratio of the silane coupling agent (p) to the solvent (q) in the modifier (III) is (1:99) to (95:5).
