PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recorder capable of always performing a wiping most suitable for a recording means with controlling the enlargement of recorder and the reduction of throughput to the minimum. SOLUTION: A wiping for a delivery port face 711 is made to be performed with a wiper 62 moving only in one direction by a wiper driving mechanism. The delivery port face 711 at the time of the wiper moving in other direction by idle swinging is separated from the wiper 62 far more than at the time of performing the wiping.
