PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to prevent a push-button member from being carelessly depressed by a simple operation during carrying a writing utensil. SOLUTION: In a duplex writing utensil, in which the operating parts of a plurality of the push-button members connecting with writing bodies are respectively projected through each vertical window slit provided at the rear end part of a rear shaft so as to selectively project a writing part through the tip hole of a head shaft through the sliding of each push-button member to the precedence of each shaft, provided is a locking device, in which a crown pivoting in a proper range to the rear shaft is provided at the rear end of the rear shaft under the condition that securing projection parts are provided at required places on the circumference of a circle at the fore end of the shaft center part of the crown. Further, a securing projection is formed at the rear end part of each push-button member. When the crown is pivoted to one way under the state that the push-button member is retreated to the rear end side of the rear shaft, the securing projecting part engages with the securing projection of the push-button member, resulting in checking the advancement of the push-button member. Furthermore, when the crown is pivoted to the other way, the securing projecting part engagingly disengages from the securing projection of the push-button member, resulting in making the advancement of the push-button member free.
