PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically turn on and turn off the light source of an endoscope. SOLUTION: An endoscope light source system 10 is provided with a lamp 11, a connector 12, a lamp power source circuit 13, a system control circuit 14 and a connection detection circuit 16. The connection detection circuit 16 detects the connection of the connector 12 and the endoscope 30, and the connection detection circuit 16 generates current detection signals when the connector 12 and the endoscope 30 are connected. The system control circuit 14 acquires the generated current detection signals through a photocoupler 17, the system control circuit 14 outputs lighting signals to the lamp power source circuit 13 when acquiring the current detection signals, and the system control circuit 14 outputs turn-off signals to the lamp power source circuit 13 when the acquisition of the current detection signals is stopped. The lamp power circuit 13 supplies power to the lamp 11 and turns on it when acquiring the lighting signals and cancels the supply of the power to the lamp 11 and turn off it when acquiring the turn-off signals.
