PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain miniaturization for an optical apparatus equipped with an ring shape light source 4 that applies darkfield illumination to an object and an objective lens 1 that is arranged on the optical axis of the light source 4. SOLUTION: In the optical apparatus, the light source 4 is composed of a plurality of LEDs that emit a cylindrical light beam toward an observed face 5, wherein these LEDs are arrayed in a circle on the observed face 5 side from the objective lens 1 and on the outside of the visual field range B of the objective lens 1.
