A fuel injection system, especially for a diesel IC engine has a common rail feed (11) and a piezo actuator (6) driving two pistons (62, 64) to operate the injector valve. The piston and located one inside the other for a compact layout and a reliable operation, i.e. one piston (64) sliding inside a blind bore of an outer piston (62).
