The control device for a longitudinal adjustment of a seat in a vehicle has an easy-entry switch (S1) operated during the operating of a backrest unlocking handle, a backrest stop switch (S2), and a control module (8) for the operating of a seat adjustment motor (2). With operation of the easy-entry switch from the normal operating mode the motor is not operated. With operation of the easy-entry switch and backrest stop switch the motor is operated in the forward direction, and with a subsequent operation of the easy-entry switch and non-operation of the backrest stop switch the motor is operated in the rearwards direction.
