PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission surface light source device which can provide directly a surface source and its negative electrode. SOLUTION: The field emission surface light source device includes a negative electrode having a plurality of emitters, and the negative electrode includes a plurality of conductive support pillars and the emitters are distributed in the conductive support pillars. The light source device is not required to carry out optical treatment by the other optical element, thereby the surface light source can be provided directly and is used in a message display area.
