PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for charging a coke oven with coal, capable of smoothly thrusting the coke out of the coke oven, by increasing a quantity of contraction of coke in an oven width direction on a C/S (coke discharge side), even when loading equipment of the coal onto a coal tower is slightly improved and the coal blended in a same manner as in the past is used. SOLUTION: In the method for charging the coke oven with the coal, a powder classifying apparatus which is structured by attaching two or more groups of rodlike materials arranged at constant intervals to a shaft rod is positioned in the coal tower on the coke discharge side in the oven lengthwise direction of a carbonizing chamber of the coke oven in such a manner that the shaft rod is positioned on the coke discharge side, the rodlike materials are each positioned in parallel in the oven lengthwise direction, and the two or more groups of the rodlike materials are arranged at a predetermined angle. Therefore, the coal is accumulated by bringing about segregation of grain sizes in the oven lengthwise direction in such a state that the grain sizes of the coal are made to be small on the coke discharge side, the coal is loaded onto hoppers of a coal charging vehicle in the above state, and the coal is fed into the carbonizing chamber of the coke oven by keeping the segregation of the grain sizes between the hoppers as it is.
