PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fire extinguishing pump system performing sure and effective operation under a disadvantageous condition at the occurrence of disaster. SOLUTION: This fire extinguishing pump system is provided with a plurality of pumps 10 arranged in a building and feeds water by serially connecting the pumps depending on situation when a fire occurs. Pressure detectors 72, 82 and 84 are respectively provided on the discharge side of the plurality of pumps 10, and a variable speed control means 30 is provided further for performing the variable speed control of the respective pumps so that the discharge pressure reaches a prescribed value on the basis of the output of the pressure detectors on the discharge side.
