<p>A device for holding a garment waistband has a flat, elongated elastic band (10) which is stretchable with a slight tension across two belt loops of the garment waistband, and a pair of fastener components (12, 14), each having a fastener end (12A, 14A) that is hookable on post members (16, 18) anchored to spaced position on the waistband and an opposite elastic-band-mounting end (12B, 14B) that is attachable to a respective end of the elastic band. Preferably, the fastener components are formed by bent metal wire with a back bar formed in a thin channel shape defining a concave cross-sectional gap with a thickness such that it can be seated around the exposed length of the belt loop and clasp it by its thickness. Since it is worn across only two belt loops, the device provides the wearer with a slimmer profile and is more comfortable to wear than a waist-length belt. The fastener components may be formed to be interchangeable with other elastic bands and/or other decorative accessories.</p> |
