A cellular phone having a broadcasting receiver which provides a high antenna sensitivity when receiving airwaves, by selectively switching antennas in different operation modes, corresponding to various use conditions. A loop antenna element (7), which is a magnetic field mode antenna element having a horizontal directivity characteristic, is arranged along a width direction (Y axis direction) of a cellular phone (100) near a hinge part (3) of a lower case body (2), and is connected to a high frequency switch (9) through a matching circuit (8). A television broadcasting signal received by an earphone cable (12), which is an electric field mode antenna element having a vertical directivity characteristic, is inputted to a high frequency switch (9) through an earphone connector (13). An antenna switching control part (15) detects receiving signal intensity at a broadcast receiving circuit (10), and operates to selectively switch the high frequency switch (9) to the loop antenna element (7) or the earphone connector (13) in response to the receiving signal level.
