PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of a conventional ultrasonic depth sounder wherein the device has a large size and cannot be used underwater, as it is constituted to be used on board. SOLUTION: This depth sounder is constituted as follows: a multicolor display part 2 and a liquid crystal display part 3 are mounted on the side surface of a cylindrical case 1; A switch 4 is mounted on the side part of the cylindrical case 1; an ultrasonic vibrator 5 is mounted on the end of the cylindrical case 1; a transmitting circuit 6 is connected to the ultrasonic vibrator 5; a transmission control part 7 to which the switch 4 is connected is connected to the transmitting circuit 6; a receiving circuit 8 is connected to the ultrasonic vibrator 5; a distance detection part 9 is connected to the receiving circuit 8; a liquid crystal control unit 10 is connected to the distance detection part 9; a liquid crystal display unit 11 where the liquid crystal display part 3 is mounted is connected to the liquid crystal control unit 10; a distance determination part 12 is connected to the distance detection part 9; an LED control unit 13 is connected to the distance determination part 12; a multicolor LED 14 is connected to the LED control unit 13; and the transmission control part 7, the distance detection part 9 and the distance determination part 12 are constituted of a CPU 15.
