PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjustment method capable of simply and accurately adjusting a gap for feeding. SOLUTION: A front guide 1 for forming the gap 10 for feeding between a sheet conveying surface 5b and it is provided on the sheet conveying surface 5b of a feeding belt and is liftably supported. The front guide 1 is raised by operation of a lifting air cylinder 12 and a clearance gauge G slightly larger than thickness of the sheet S1 subsequently fed is placed on the sheet conveying surface 5b. The front guide 1 is descended by operation of the lifting air cylinder 12 and the lifting air cylinder 12 is air-discharged in the state that a lower end is abutted on the clearance gauge G. The front guide 1 is brought into contact with the clearance gauge G by own weight and the whole lower surface of the front guide 1 is brought into contact with the clearance gauge G.
