PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood vessel shape measuring instrument with which the cross-sectional shape of a blood vessel is measured precisely. SOLUTION: In the blood vessel shape measuring instrument, a blood vessel shape calculation means 62 calculates the respective positions of sections corresponding to a first ultrasonic element 26<SB>n</SB>and a second ultrasonic element 28<SB>n</SB>in the blood vessel wall of parts positioned just under a first array 26 and a second array 28 based on an echo signal detected from the first array 26 and the second array 28 arranged on the skin 20 in the state of crossing with the brachial artery 18 positioned under the skin 20 of the arm part being a part 14 of a living body, and calculates the shape of the orthogonal cross section of the brachial artery 18 based on the positions of the sections corresponding to the first ultrasonic element 26<SB>n</SB>and the second ultrasonic element 28<SB>n</SB>in the blood vessel wall. Thus, even when the direction of the brachial artery 18 under the skin 20 of the living body is not orthogonal to the first array 26 and the second array 28 or it is not parallel to the skin 20, the cross-sectional shape of the brachial artery 18 is obtained precisely.
