PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cone beam X-ray CT apparatus for the head and neck which can be used in common for cephalometric radiography, or the like, by providing a turning shaft position variable mechanism at the connection part of a turning shaft and a turning arm in addition to a horizontal-direction moving means of an X/Y direction provided in a turning drive unit as the moving means of the conventional turning arm, and enabling displacement of the turning shaft to the turning arm forward and backward in a direction parallel to the main line of X-rays. SOLUTION: This cone beam X-ray CT apparatus for the head and neck has an X-ray generator for emitting cone beam X-rays at one end and an FP-type two-dimensional sensor at the other end arranged oppositely to each other across a patient, and turns the turning shaft for carrying out X-ray CT radiography. The turning shaft is supported by a turning mechanism for turning a turning arm, an X-axis moving mechanism and a Y-axis moving mechanism. Furthermore, a focus of X-rays, the center of the turning shaft, a turning shaft position variable mechanism, and their respective control means are provided, and a means for moving the sensor much closer to an examinee at the time of radiography to be used in common for cephalometric radiography, or the like, is provided.
